Business Ecosystems Game
Last week, the completely new Business Ecosystems Game was launched at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Last year, the TU/e asked us to design this brand new game after a decade of running the Innovation Management in their courses.
This game focuses on building networks to create value on the individual, firm- and system-level. In the simulation, students are running companies and have both team objectives as well as class objectives to simulate developing real ecosystems (as in: they are learning to sacrifice their team objectives for the greater good).
The simulation measures their performance on 8 competencies: creativity, curiosity, authenticity, resilience, collaboration, openness, ambition and adaptability - crucial future-proof leadership skills 😁
First reactions:
Maral Mahdad, assistant professor of Innovation Management, Eindhoven University of Technology:
“An exciting highlight is the re-integration of the Business Ecosystems Game in the new format […] ensuring full alignment with our course content and learning goals. What a great day 🙌 thanks a lot Jan!”
Marcel Bogers, full professor of Open & Collaborative Innovation, Eindhoven University of Technology:
“As next steps in the course, the students will engage in three modules in which we address open innovation from the individual, organizational, and ecosystem level. They will also play an business ecosystems game in which they will make strategic decisions along these dimensions. So, after an exciting start to the course, there is still much to look forward to!”
