New infographic: the Toxic Matrix
How to avoid the toxic trap? Over the last few years, the role of toxic behaviour in organizations has increasingly received attention in both the academic world and popular media. It is generally accepted that toxic behaviour and toxic environments are negatively influencing a culture collaboration and innovation in organizations - and as as an indicator of strategic risk.
At the same time, I found that literature is still very messy, because it sometimes focuses on organizational behaviour (i.e. abusive leadership and social environments) and sometimes on personal traits (i.e. narcissism among individuals). I thought it would be helpful to combine these views into one visual that surfaces the complex emergence of toxicity in organizations and the risk of falling into the self-reinforcing toxic trap when a certain tipping point has been reached.
